RDCK has awarded the first phase contract to ENCAN Construction of Kelowna.
ENCAN’s construction foreman, Greg Stone of Rossland, has contracted two local heavy equipment contractors for excavation work and has hired three local area carpenters. He intends on purchasing much of the required building supplies locally .
Mr. Stone has worked in the Kaslo area for many years, most recently building at one of the area Ski Resorts on Mount Carlyle. ENCAN will be making every effort to hire local workers and purchase materials locally.
As planned, the building will be constructed in two phases. The first phase contract is forecasted to be complete in March of 2014 which will see the building through to ‘lock up’. ‘Lock up’ is all the floors, walls framed, roof, infloor piping, electrical service, doors, etc.
The remainder of the project (phase 2) will include gyproc, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating, finishing, air supplies, furnishings, etc. Phase 2 will see bids (for this work) to accommodate individual contractors. A second phase foreman will be in place to ensure timely execution of all work.
