Fire ban partially rescinded in Southeast Fire Centre

Effective at noon (PDT) on Friday, September 26, Category 2 open fires will be permitted within the Southeast Fire Centre due to a decreased risk of wildfires.
However, Category 3 open fires are still prohibited within the Southeast Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, with the exception of the Columbia Fire Zone.
The public is now permitted to:

  • Burn material in one pile not exceeding two metres in height and three metres in width.
  • Burn material concurrently in two piles each not exceeding two metres in height and
    three metres in width.
  • Burn stubble or grass over an area that does not exceed 0.2 ha.
  • Use fireworks, sky lanterns or burning barrels.

Note: The Village of Kaslo burn bylaw limits Category 2 fires to 1 metres in height and 1.5m in width, and are allowed from October 1st to November 30th inclusive by permit.
