About 150 people attended the grand opening of the Kaslo & Area Emergency Services Centre.
The guest speakers included Alex Atamanenko (MP, BC Southern Interior), Lawrence Chernoff (RDCK Board Vice-chair), Andy Shadrack (RDCK Area D Director), Mayor Greg Lay (Kaslo), Chief Terry Swan (Regional Fire Chief) and Chief Simon Grypma (Nelson FD). Fire chiefs and representatives from various departments from the RDCK also attended.
After the ribbon cutting, the public was invited in to see the new building and enjoy refreshments & food prepared by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Cake was served outside by KVFD’s own Lt. Kevin Smith, the owner of the Old World Bakery in Nelson.
Winners of the draw for fire safety prize bags are Casey Jones, Molly Semenoff, Terri Laybourne, Kathy Freeman, Ed Swain, Allan Lowrie, Shane McKinnon & Noreen Clayton. Someone from the department will be contacting you in the next few days to arrange delivery of your prize.
