Overview
The Kaslo Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1896. The original fire hall, now known as the VHKAS Thrift Store, was in use from 1951 until 1971 when the fire hall besides the City Hall was built. That structure is now gone and a new park has taken its place. The fire department now resides at the Kaslo Emergency Services Centre along with Kaslo Search & Rescue (KSAR) and Emergency Social Services (ESS) at 529 Arena Avenue.
